Community Involvement

Fred Martin Nissan proudly sponsors The Humane Society of Summit County, providing all of the food used by the facility for over 25 years. The Humane Society of Summit County, located on Darrow Road in Twinsburg, has a mission to care for and advocate for the abused, neglected, and abandoned animals of our community. In 2019, Fred Martin Nissan first became involved with Norton City Schools for their We Roar. Together. shirt campaign.  With a donation of $10,000 we were able to cover the cost of approximately 3,000 shirts for students, teachers, and staff.  Students were encouraged to wear their shirts to bring awareness to mental health, anti-bullying, and overall wellness for this amazing District-wide initiative.

After a hiatus in 2020, the “We Roar. Together.” program is resuming for the 2021-2022 school year.  Fred Martin Nissan is pleased to once again provide our support, as the pandemic only served to magnify mental health issues for students in the district.  This year’s program provides student mentors, additional personnel specializing in mental health, and initiatives throughout the year designed to create a culture of love and support for students and their families.

We are thrilled to be a part of such an amazing and important initiative at Norton City Schools!

We are also involved in community D.A.R.E. programs that work to positively influence children by educating them on the negative impacts of drug and alcohol abuse. Over the last 20 years we have donated 20 “D.A.R.E. Mobiles” to the Norton Police Department, the Hartville Police Department, and the Summit County Sheriff’s Department.

Fred Martin Nissan takes part in the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Over the years, thousands of toys have been donated by employees, community members, and customers, helping make participation in this program a success.

We also proudly support Hyundai Hope On Wheels, an incredible organization benefiting pediatric cancer research. Hyundai and its U.S. dealers created Hyundai Hope On Wheels in 1998. From the sale of every new vehicle, a donation is made to help fight cancer. To date, more than 800 research grants have supported research at children’s hospitals across the nation.

ACCESS, Inc., is a homeless women and children’s shelter in Akron. They work with mothers in need to provide them education and work training so that they may better provide for their children. Since 2016, Fred Martin Nissan has sponsored their wildly popular annual event “The Jewelry Box”.  Gently used jewelry is professionally displayed and every piece is $5 during this well attended weekend event that takes place annually in November.

We also support the following: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Barberton Summer Concert Series, American Red Cross, Akron Children’s Hospital, Barberton Sparkles-an all-inclusive cheer squad and several location youth sports organizations.  Fred Martin Nissan is always interested in highlighting new local charities and businesses in our surrounding community on social media and on “The Car Connection.”  We encourage employees to be involved in charitable organizations they are passionate about, and we have participated as sponsors in causes and events they are involved with.  Locally owned and operated, Fred Martin Nissan knows the importance of giving back to the community. If we take care of our community, they will take care of us, just like they always have!
